The design and construction of The Orangery, Richmond, involved the substantial remodelling of an existing 1960's house. The front and rear elevations were completely refaced in new brick and stone details. The internal floors were adjusted to increase floor area and give better room heights. The building's thermal performance and services were greatly improved.

The retention of existing buildings has become increasingly common as planning policies on sustainability and conservation have restricted the opportunities to clear a site and build anew. Our experience in refurbishment and building conservation enables us to re-craft existing structures to the demands of contemporary architecture, helping to improve the prospects of planning consent.
